appear.inをペットカメラにする作戦その7 名前変わったWhereby

長時間お出かけの際はappear.inをセットしてどらやきちゃんを外から見てた。

こないだ名前変わるよメールが来ていた。新サービス名はWhereby https://whereby.comである。直訳すると「それで」。

メールは英語だったが、名称変更理由があったので訳してみた。

Why did we have to change the name?

We had a long-standing trademark dispute over the appear․in name that resulted in no longer being able to use it. The old name has served us and our millions of users very well over the years, but our brand was due for an upgrade. So while it’s unfortunate to have to have to make this change right now it is necessary. We recognize this will create some mixed feelings for you, our users. However it’s also important to know the service you know and love is staying the same.

ちょっと意味が通じにくい部分はあるが、商標取れなかったよって話らしい。各アプリの方も新しい名前でインストールされた。

あと、オレのFire HDでAndroidアプリだとセションが始まらないのは改善されていない。まあ、Chromeでアクセスするからいいか。
